A. ENTRY ELIGIBILITY. NO PURCHASE REQUIRED. The Epson Smartest Young Indian Contest, 2012 is open to residents of India who are between the ages of 8 and 16 years as on February 28, 2013. Employees of Sponsor or Co-Sponsor, and their respective immediate families are not eligible to participate. Entrants must have a parent's or legal guardian's permission to enter.
B. HOW TO ENTER. To enter, contestants must submit a completed Puzzle Form (that will include the Contest Entry Form). By signing the Contest Entry Form, the parent or legal guardian is agreeing to the terms & conditions of the contest for the participant. The completed Puzzle Form must be placed in an envelope and couriered to the address mentioned in the form. Contestants can also submit their Entry in the Epson Drop Box – available at select schools. Please use adequate measures to protect the Puzzle Form Printouts against damage during transport or delivery. Each entrant is allowed to submit only one Entry. However, use of the same Entry for other Sponsor and/or Co-Sponsor contests and/or awards is not permitted.The sponsorer will not be liable for the entries lost in transit.
C. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS. To enter this contest participants have to complete the online puzzle at www.thesmartestyoungindian.com. After completion, they need to take the printout of the Puzzle Form (that will include the Contest Entry Form) and duly complete it. The Entry must be submitted in the form of a 2-page Printout using an Inkjet or Laser printer. There is no restriction on the brand of printer used to print. All Entries become the physical property of the Sponsor and/or Co-Sponsor, and will not be returned.
D. ENTRY SUBMISSION DEADLINE. To be eligible, all entries must reach us on or before 28th February 2013.
E. NOTIFICATION OF WINNING ENTRIES. The names of the winners and their respective schools will be posted on the website, and will be notified by email/post.
F. RELEASE. By entering this Contest and/or accepting an award, contestants and their parents/legal guardians release and agree to hold harmless Sponsor and Co-Sponsor, and their respective directors, officers, employees, representatives and agents from any and all liability for any injuries, loss or damage of any kind, including death, arising in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from acceptance, possession, use or misuse of an award or participation in this Contest.
G. REPRESENTATIONS. By entering this Contest, you represent that your Entry is original and of your own creation.
H. USE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION. Personal/School information provided in the Entry Forms shall be appropriately managed by Sponsor and/or Co-Sponsor, and shall not be provided to any third party, except that, by entering this Contest, you agree to allow Sponsor to use your personal/school information contained on the Contest Entry Form: (i) in connection with the publication of your Entry and for promotional purposes (except where prohibited), without review, notification, or approval; and (ii) to provide you/your school with information of this Contest and future Contests. Winning Contestants may be required to sign and return an affidavit of eligibility, grant of rights, tax forms, and a publicity and liability release, all within fourteen (14) days of notification, or the award may be forfeited and an alternate winner selected (alternate will be the Entry that received the next lower ranking).
I. COMPLIANCE WITH OFFICIAL RULES. By entering this Contest, you agree to abide by these Official Rules and to accept the judges’ decisions as final. Submission of an Entry and/or acceptance of an award grants Sponsor and Co-Sponsor the non-exclusive, perpetual right to use, reproduce, prepare derivative works of (including, to edit, adapt, modify and excerpt), distribute, publish and/or publicly display the Entry for any purpose in any media currently in existence or hereafter developed without further compensation to you, which includes, but is not limited to, the right to publish your Entry on the Website.
J. AWARDS. Substitution or transfer of an award is not allowed, except Sponsor and/or Co-Sponsor may substitute an award for one of equal or greater value. Income tax and any other taxes on the value of an award are the sole responsibility of the Winning Contestant. Sponsor and/or Co-Sponsor will furnish to the appropriate tax authorities, any required tax reporting forms relating any award given to a Winning Contestant.
Where the term “trip to Singapore” is used, it consists of round trip airfare for the winner plus one Parent/Guardian to accompany from the winner’s location to Singapore, 2-way transfers from airport to hotel, two nights’ accommodation on a room-only basis, in a hotel selected by the Sponsor and/or Co-sponsor, ground transportation for sightseeing. All other costs not stated above are to be the responsibility of the winners. In the event that the winner is unable to travel on the set dates, or is unable to obtain the necessary Embassy/country visas, within two weeks of the departure date, the prizes will be forfeited. Sponsor and/or Co-sponsor its absolute discretion may offer alternative prize.
K. MISCELLANEOUS. Sponsor and/or Co-Sponsor, in its/their sole discretion, reserve(s) the right to disqualify any individual, if it reasonably suspects or believes to be tampering with the entry process or the award mechanism, by any means, or to be acting in violation of these Official Rules. Any individual attempting to defraud or tamper with this Contest in any way will be ineligible for awards. Sponsor and/or Co-Sponsor further reserve(s) the right to cancel, terminate or suspend this Contest, or any part of this Contest, should any cause beyond its control, corrupt or impair the security, administration, fairness and/or operation of this Contest as determined by Sponsor and/or Co-Sponsor in its/their sole discretion. Sponsor and Co-Sponsor are not responsible for injury or damage to any contestant’s (or any other person’s) computer, computer peripheral or other electronic device, related to or resulting from participating or receiving materials in connection with this Contest, or any other liability or damage of any kind related to this Contest. Sponsor and Co-Sponsor are not responsible for lost, late, incomplete or misdirected Entries.The decision of the Sponsor and/or Co-Sponsor will be final. All applicable laws apply to this Contest. Any dispute arising out of, or in connection with, these Official Rules and/or this Contest shall be, and you irrevocably agree to be, subject to the jurisdiction of Bangalore.

CONTEST EVALUATION PROCESS
Each Entry will be evaluated on the basis of its Compliance with the subject matter and the objective of the contest, the uniqueness of the Participant’s and the Parent’s/Guardian’s reply to the Puzzle Form question. An expert panel of judges will assess each Entry with an understanding of age and skill-development. This is to ensure that intellectual prowess at a younger age is identified and assessed individually.
